Cutting ring fitting

A compression fitting is a technology developed for highest pressures liquid-tight connection technology of pipes. The common name also Ermeto coupling refers to the company Emerto that developed the glands in the 1930s.

Use

The cutting ring fittings are standardized according to EN ISO 8434 and DIN 2353 and are mainly used in hydraulics. The components of a compression fitting are: union nut, clamping cone and cutting ring. They have a 24 ° sealing cone, the mother has a metric thread. The glands are divided into three series, very light, easily prepared ( up to 350 bar) and heavy ( up to 600 bar).

By tightening the nut, the tapered inside, the ferrule is compressed, whereby the wedge-shaped ring inner side cuts in the pipe wall and produces a tight form fit.

History

The history of this product began in 1929, when the engineer Hans Kreidel received a patent to the first, he developed cutting ring. Two years later, in 1931, was the production of Emerto (derived from the Greek word " hermetos " = completed, tight) screw started in Zöblitz / Erzgebirge. In the following 14 years until the war ended 1945 Emerto became the leader of tube fittings for brake systems and hydraulic heavy industry.
