Cuvat

Cuvat is a commune in the French department of Haute- Savoie department in the Rhône-Alpes region.

Geography

Cuvat is located on 675 m above sea level. M., about 9 km north of the town of Annecy (air line). This former farm extends in a promising position on a hill north of the basin of Annecy in the Alpine foothills, overlooking the valley of Viéran, in Genevois.

The area of ​​4.72 km ² municipal area includes a portion of the Genevois. The eastern boundary runs along a swelling stream of Viéran, a right tributary of the Fier. From here, the municipality's area extends westward to the height and the plateau of Cuvat and in the headwaters of the Viéran. On the west of the municipality ground enough on the wooded ridge of La Mandallaz, on 902 m above sea level. M. the highest elevation of Cuvat is achieved.

To Cuvat next to the village itself includes various hamlet settlements and farmsteads, including:

  • Le Murgier (650 m above sea level. M. ) on the slope below Cuvat
  • Les Lavorels (750 m above sea level. M. ) on the plateau at the eastern foot of the Montagne de Mandallaz

Neighboring communities of Cuvat are Choisy and Allonzier -la- Caille in the north, Saint -Martin -Bellevue in the east, Pringy in the south and La Balme -de- Sillingy in the West.

Attractions

The village church of Cuvat dates from the 19th century, has an onion dome and a remarkable interior from the building time.

Population

With 1018 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) Cuvat one of the small towns in the Haute-Savoie region. During the 19th and 20th centuries, the population steadily increased due to high levels of emigration from (1861 were still in Cuvat counted 323 inhabitants ). Since the early 1970s, however, was due to the attractive residential location and close to Annecy again recorded a marked increase in population.
