Fluorcyan is a chemical compound selected from the group consisting of cyanogen halides and nitriles.
Production and representation
Fluorcyan can be obtained by thermal decomposition of cyanuric fluoride.
It can also be obtained by reaction of silver (I ) fluoride and Iodcyan.
Properties
Fluorcyan is a colorless gas that can be stored at -78 ° C. At room temperature, it polymerizes to cyanuric fluoride. In the presence of boron trifluoride or hydrogen fluoride, this reaction proceeds very violently forward.
Use
Fluorcyan can be used in tear gas and synthesis of organic compounds.
