Cyanometer

A cyanometer (Greek ) is an instrument for measuring the color intensity of the blue color of the sky. This instrument was developed by Horace - Bénédict de Saussure in the late 18th century.

From the measurement can be closed to the condition of atmosphere. The atmosphere is more transparent and the sky is blue, the less water is in the atmosphere in the vapor state.

Note the sky blue: Researchers at the UK's National Physical Laboratory in 2006 tried to identify with a colorimeter the place with the most intense color of the sky. They found in Rio de Janeiro, New Zealand and Australia before the sky, which is said to have the strongest blue.

Alexander von Humboldt resulted in his research trip to America (1799-1804) with a cyanometer that he should have acquired in Paris in 1798.
