Cyber-shot

Cyber-shot is a product brand name under which the Japanese manufacturer Sony since 1996, distributes its compact digital cameras. This compact cameras of the system cameras (brand Alpha, since 2006) and camcorders (trade Handycam ) are recognized within the Sony product program.

Short-term (2008-2009) was the Cyber-shot brand used by Sony Ericsson for combination devices from mobile phone and digital camera.

Many Cyber-shot models have a built-in lens by Carl Zeiss. In addition, there is - except for the fact that it consistently is digital cameras without interchangeable lens - little in common; the brand covers a wide range of styles / sizes, functions and other technical characteristics for different user audiences. They range from simple micro- cameras ( Ultrakompakt-/Subminiaturkameras ) over typical compact cameras up to bridge cameras for the prosumer range, partly as a super-zoom camera with advanced video features.

Model series

All Cyber-shot cameras take as the type designation abbreviation DSC (short for Digital Still Camera), followed by a letter abbreviation for the model series. Currently (as of mid-2013 ) are especially offered the following series in trading:

  • DSC -H and HX: Bridge Cameras
  • DSC -R and RX: compact cameras with image sensors and optical zoom upscale advanced features
  • DSC -W and WX: Compact cameras entry-level, very light and small, easy to use

In the past, continue the series DSC -D, F / FX, G, J, L, M, N, P, S / ST, T / TF / TX, U and V are in use.
