Cybiko

The Cybiko is an aging in 1998 on the market and conceived for teenagers Electronic organizer with a built-in wireless text messaging system. Officially 450 Freeware games and applications are published.

Because of the text messages, the device is equipped with a full QWERTY keyboard that can be operated because of the small size of the keys with a stylus provided. An MP3 player and a card reader for SmartMedia cards are optional. The manufacturer has stopped production in 2003, according to two models, but there is still a group of users and programmers. Some innovations of the Cybiko, about the wireless networked chat system, were taken for the OLPC ( One laptop per child ).

Cybikos can communicate via standard at a distance of up to 300 meters each. About the freeware program UI Power increase up to 450 meters is possible.

Models

Cybiko Classic

The Cybiko Classic used as the main processor has a Hitachi H8S/2241 at a rate of 11.0592 MHz, and the wireless communication the Atmel AT90S2313 coprocessor at a rate of 4 MHz. It is equipped with 512 KB ROM flash memory and 256 KB of RAM. The slot for the memory expansion on the rear panel but has the same structure as that of a PC card is incompatible with this.

Cybiko Xtreme

The Cybiko Xtreme is the much better -equipped successor to the Cybiko Classic. It offers a faster processor, more memory, a new tool design with different keyboard layout, a new operating system, built-in microphone and an improved sound system. It uses the Hitachi H8S/2323 at a rate of 18 MHz

Programming

Software for the Cybiko can be written in C or Cybasic, a separate Basic version.
