Cycleurope

Cycleurope is a Swedish company based in Stockholm and Varberg. It includes a number of renowned European bike brands. The Group has production facilities in Denmark, France, Italy and Sweden. Cycleurope is part of the Grimaldi Industri AB.

History

In response to the Asian competition bought the Spanish bicycle manufacturer Beistegui Hermanos (BH ) SA 1992, the French bicycle manufacturer Peugeot and Gitane and founded the Cycleurope group. Back in 1995, sold the BH group at the Swedish bicycle manufacturer Monark Stiga, the Bianchi group bought in 1997. In 1999, the Grimaldi Industri AB bought the bike manufacturer Monark and thus the Cycleurope group.

Bicycle brands

The following bicycle brands are part of the group:

  • Crescent, was acquired in 1960 by Monark by buying Nymanbolagen.
  • Monark founded in 1908 in Varberg.
  • Bianchi (FIV Edoardo Bianchi ), was purchased in 1997 by Cycleurope. Edoardo Bianchi started in 1885, 21 years old, with a bicycle shop and production in the Via Nirone in Milan.
  • Gitane, founded in 1930 in France.
  • Micmo founded in 1935 in France.
  • Puch - Johann Puch (1862 - 1914) began with a bicycle shop in 1889 and founded in 1899 a bicycle factory in Graz, Austria.
  • Legnano, about buying Edoardo Bianchi.
  • Peugeot, Bike Division (loss of trademark rights in 2004 ).
  • Øglænd DBS, was purchased by Monarch in 1989 and 1996 by Cycleurope.
  • Kildemoes, began in 1942 in Odense, Denmark.
  • Everton
  • Chiorda, owned by Edoardo Bianchi.
  • Acquired Renault, trademark license 2003
