IFA Hawaii
Cyllene (Jupiter XLVIII ) is one of the smaller moons of the planet Jupiter.
Discovery
Cyllene was discovered on February 8, 2003 by astronomers at the University of Hawaii. The moon has received on 30 March 2005 its official name (after the nymph Kyllene ) of the International Astronomical Union ( IAU).
Path data
Cyllene orbits Jupiter at an average distance of 24,349,000 km in 737.8 days. The track has an eccentricity of 0.319. With an inclination of 149.3 °, the track is retrograde, that is, the moon moves against the direction of rotation of Jupiter around the planet.
Because of their web properties is Cyllene the Pasiphae group, named after Jupiter's moon Pasiphae assigned.
Physical data
Cyllene has a diameter of about 2 km. their density is estimated to be 2.6 g / cm ³. It is probably made up predominantly of silicate rock. It has very probably a very dark surface with an albedo of 0.04, i.e., only 4% of the incident sunlight is reflected.
