Cymenes

The cymenes ( Methylcumole, Isopropyltoluole ) constitute a group of substances of the aromatic hydrocarbons, the structure of which consists of a benzene ring having an isopropyl group (-CH (CH3) 2 ), and a methyl group ( - CH3) as a substituent. Due to their different arrangement of three structural isomers arise with the molecular formula C10H14. They also belong to the group of C4 - benzenes. The best-known isomer is the p- cymene, it comes as a single in nature and is one of the terpenes.

Properties

The melting and boiling points of each show only minor differences among themselves. P- cymene which has the highest symmetry, showing no particular deviations greater.
