Cynewulf

Cynewulf was a Christian religious poet, who probably lived in the Kingdom of Northumbria or Mercia English to the early 9th century. Although otherwise is virtually nothing is known about him, him four Old English religious poems can be attributed due to its runic signature. He wrote, among other things, a biography of Saint Guthlac in verse.

Works

One of these poems, the Christian who reaches into his sections 1 to 6, 8 and 9 VIII on the Advent O Antiphons. While the invocation " O Sapientia ", "O Adonai " and "O Radix Jesse " missing in Christchurch, the remaining of the original twelve invocations are received. Two lines from the fourth section of the Christian were the catalyst for the development of his mythology of Middle-earth of the English author JRR Tolkien at the beginning of the 20th century.
