Cyprichormis leptosoma

Cyprichromis is a genus of cichlids ( Cichlidae ). All species of the genus live in the endemic Lake Tanganyika in the open water near the Felslitorals and are mouth brooders.

Features

The species of the genus Cyprichromis reach body lengths of 8 to 15 centimeters. They are elongated and laterally only slightly flattened. The body is covered with comb scales and colored very variable in all species. The posterior margin of the caudal fin is clearly concave. Unlike the species of the genus Limnochromis these types do not have a mark on the gill cover. The pharyngeal bones has a number of pharyngeal teeth.

  • Cyprichromis microlepidotus (Poll, 1956)
  • Cyprichromis pavo ( Büscher, 1994)
  • Cyprichromis zonatus ( Takahashi, Hori & Nakaya, 2002)
  • Cyprichromis coloratus ( Takahashi & Hori, 2006)
