Cyromazine is a triazine type, which is used as a larvicide in various plant protection agents. Its IUPAC name is N -cyclopropyl -1 ,3,5 -triazine -2 ,4,6 -triamine. Cyromazine acts on the Nervensysten of certain insect larvae. In Switzerland, plant protection products containing cyromazine for use against leafminers and fungus gnats in some horticultural crops are allowed. In Austria and Germany, a plant protection product containing the active ingredient cyromazine is approved.
Synthesis
Cyromazine is prepared starting from cyanuric chloride by reaction with cyclopropylamine, ammonium hydroxide and ammonia.
