Cyrus S. Eaton

Cyrus Stephen Eaton (* December 27 1883 in Pugwash, Canada, † May 9, 1979 in Cleveland, Ohio) was a successful investment banker, businessman and philanthropist in the United States. He became world famous through his invitation to the so-called Pugwash conference during the Cold War.

He related to the village of Pugwash build his money back and secured the site from flooding. He let asphalt pavements and create a park around the town for tourists to make them attractive. His plan failed, however, initially.

In 1957, Cyrus Eaton brought the Pugwash Conferences on Science and World Affairs, a consequence of the " Russell -Einstein Manifesto " of 1955, after Pugwash.
