Cytoplasmic hybrid

The term cybrid (abbreviation of the name of cytoplasmic hybrid ) is referred to an animal egg cell to which a cell nucleus of a different type has been implanted (installed). Comes one of the cells used in this case by the people, or arises from, in principle, a combination of man and animals.

In experiments cell nuclei were, for example, in the UK and China implanted in bovine oocytes in order to win in this way embryonic stem cells can, so far ( 2011) but without significant success; also has not foreseeable that such embryos could be viable as a whole.

The procedure is controversial for ethical reasons and because of unpredictable biological consequences, particularly transplanting human cell material into cells of primates monkeys because they are genetically closely related to humans.
