Czersk

Czersk ( German Czersk, Heiderode 1942-45 ) is a town of about 9,500 inhabitants in the powiat Chojnicki in the Pomeranian Voivodeship in Poland. Its area is 9.73 km ². The city is located on the so-called Eastern Railway.

History

The town was founded in the 14th century. In 1772 there were 186 inhabitants in the village, at the same time it lost its city rights it had received in 1386. 1827 Street Berlin was - Königsberg opened. In 1873 a railway line was built in the vicinity of the place, the so-called Eastern Railway. 1920 Czersk was based on the Treaty of Versailles of Poland. 1921 counted 6,700 residents of the place already. 1926 Czersk got back a city. Between 1939 and 1945 the city was occupied by the Wehrmacht and heard since the end of World War II back to Poland. 1939 lived around 8,500 inhabitants in Czersk, 1945, there were only 6,500. Meanwhile, the figure is 9,445 residents.
