Czeslaw Kozon

Czeslaw Kozon ( born November 17, 1951 in Idestrup, Falster, Denmark) is since 1995 the bishop of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Copenhagen.

Life and work

He grew up in a family with Polish roots. From 1971 to 1977 he studied at the Gregorian University and the Pontifical Lateran University theology. On January 6, 1979 he was ordained by Bishop Hans Ludvig Martensen in the Cathedral Saint Ansgar in Copenhagen for the priest. From 1979-1984 he was a curate in Aalborg. In 1984 he became pastor in Ordrup, and also responsible for the neighboring community Hellerup from 1989. In 1994 he was appointed Vicar General and consecrated a year later by Bishop Martensen, who resigned for health reasons from his position as Bishop of Copenhagen on 7 May 1995 on the bishop.

Bishop Czeslaw Kozon supports the celebration of Mass in the Tridentine rite, according to the Motu proprio Summorum Pontificum and also a celebration of themselves more often in this traditional liturgy form.
