D-A-D

DAD, formerly known as Disneyland After Dark (the name had to be changed due to an impending action of the Walt Disney Company) is a Danish rock band from Copenhagen. Their musical style is often described as melodic heavy rock. The band also has the names DAD, D • A • D and D: A: D used, each name represents a chapter in the history of the band.

Band History

The band started their career at the beginning of the 1980s in Copenhagen, at that time still under the name Disneyland After Dark. The name sprang from an idea Stig Petersen, that if at Disneyland the lights may go out everything happen. This was reflected in his view reflected by the music of his band. For the first line-up included Jesper Binzer (guitar), Stig Pedersen (bass ), Peter Lundholm Jensen (drums ) and Stig's girlfriend Lene Glumer (vocals ). However, this was only pushed to a concert of the band, because they do not fit in the opinion of the remaining members to them. The vocals took Stig and Jesper, who would eventually become the lead singer of the band. As a second guitarist joined in March 1984, his younger brother Jacob Binzer this.

The international breakthrough was achieved by the band with her published in 1989 LP No Fuel Left For The Pilgrims. Following a successful world tour, which also took place in the U.S., the Walt Disney Company was aware of the band and sat by the court that the term Disneyland could no longer be used. From now on, the band operated under the name DAD or D: A: D, now rewritten in the internet -friendly DAD.

DAD have a large fan base in Scandinavia and play club tours with several thousand spectators, are also one of the headliners of the annual Roskilde Festival on the outskirts of Copenhagen and there have up to 50,000 spectators and listeners.

The largest concert the band played as the opening act for the Böhse Onkelz on their farewell festival on 17 June 2005 in front of over 120,000 spectators on the Euro Speedway Lausitz.

In 2008, the band released the album Monster Philosophy. In Germany the label 3R Entertainment took over the distribution of the plate, which was founded by ex- Böhse uncle Stephan Weidner. This took under his solo project The W in 2009 DAD with on support tour through Germany, Austria and Switzerland. By appearances DAD able to strengthen its fan base in Germany, playing alongside Wacken Open Air 2009 in 2010 some small festivals, and its own small winter tour.

On 14 November 2011 appeared with Dic.Nii.Lan.Daft.Erd.Ark the 11th studio album by the band.

Jesper Binzer

  • Birth: September 4, 1965
  • Instruments: lead vocals, guitar, banjo and background vocals.

Jesper comes as Laust sun Øsby Sogn. He was a founder of the band in 1982. Jesper plays drums in the band The White outs, and wrote a song for the Danish film Bleeder. Jesper wears his hair long since the start of school, he says he'll never cut it accordingly The piece is called I Will not Cut My Hair.

Jacob Binzer

  • Birth: October 28, 1966
  • Instruments: lead guitar, backing vocals, kazoo, piano and keyboard.

Jesper Binzers younger brother nicknamed Cobber comes from Frederiksberg. He started making music with the piano, but when his brother started playing in bands, he switched to guitar because he also wanted to be a guitarist in a band. Jacob plays with D -A- D since 1984.

Stig Pedersen

  • Birth: May 18, 1965
  • Instruments: bass guitar, lead and background vocals.

Stig is from Amager. He played in his youth in a punk band called ADS. He founded DAD after he was thrown from ads to show them that they had made ​​a mistake. Stig also played in the band Hell Betty. His basses have only two or three strings and quirky shapes, such as missiles. In the late 1980s, he found that he used when he played only the E and A strings, and made it his trademark to use special visually pleasing bass. He also played concerts or even individual pieces with only one string. He designed his bass itself, based on his own ideas.

Laust sun

  • Birth: December 11, 1974
  • Instruments: drums, backing vocals, vibraphone, keyboard, guitar, saxophone, xylophone and bass.

Laust comes from Frederiksberg and plays in the band since 1999. He also plays in the bands Dear and Bugpowder.
