D. J. Augustin

Darryl Jerard " D. J. " Augustine (born 10 November 1987 in New Orleans, Louisiana ) is an American professional basketball player and playing in the NBA. He has been running since December 2013 as a point guard for the Chicago Bulls.

Childhood and high school

D. J. Augustin was born in New Orleans and lived there until 2005. Then the family was forced to move by Hurricane Katrina. The choice fell on Missouri City, Texas. It was not until he attended Brother Martin High School in New Orleans, which he led to two state championships. In Texas, he attended the Hightower High School in Missoury City, where he also played his last year of high school basketball. But he received his diploma from Brother Martin High School.

On the Hightower High School Augustin enthusiastic above all by its very accurate and precise passing game throwing. In his first game for this high school Augustin reached almost a triple -double against the Madison High School with 29 points, 8 rebounds and 14 assists. With it, the school reached a record this season of 26:4 wins and difference only in the third playoff round. Augustine won by his good performances several awards. He was MVP of District 20 -5A, the All- Houston First Team and the All-State First Team reached. He was also McDonald's All American and played as a starter for the West against the eventual teammate Kevin Durant.

College

Freshman

D. J. Augustin attended the University of Texas from 2006 to 2008, where he played for the university team, the Texas Longhorns. He started in all 35 games his first season as a point guard for the Longhorns, reaching an average of 14.4 points and 6.7 assists per game. For his achievements he was elected to the All - Big 12 Second Team and to the Big 12 All - Rookie Team. Augustin had in 2007 can register for the NBA Draft. However, he opted for another year at the Texas Longhorns to improve his game yet.

Sophomore

In the last semester of 2007 Augustin achieved a GPA of 3.64 - the maximum is 4.0. Consequently, he was elected to the first- team academic America, which the best students who are in a sports team of the College at the same time distinguished. He is the second player of the Texas Longhorns, who received this award by Jim Krivacs. In addition, Augustine was elected to the USBWA All- America First Team. On 3 April 2008 D. J. received Augustin the Bob Cousy Award, which distinguishes the best point guard of all colleges. On 23 April 2008 Augustin volunteered finally to the NBA Draft.

NBA

Augustin was selected ninth in the first round of the NBA Drafts 2008. He signed for 3.8 million U.S. dollars for 3 years with the Charlotte Bobcats. In his rookie season Augustin reached 11.8 points and 3.5 assists on average.

Despite declining performance in his second season (6.3 points), he was raised after the change of Raymond Felton to the New York Knicks in the offseason 2010 starter on the position of point guard.

Following the weak 2011/2012 season with only 7 wins the Bobcats Augustin submitted no new offer for a contract and Augustin then moved to the Indiana Pacers. There he received a one-year contract until 2013.

For the 2013/2014 season Augustin received a new contract with the Pacers and then moved within the league to the Toronto Raptors. There he will come as a back up of Kyle Lowry off the bench. In November 2013, the Raptors Augustin dismissed to make room for new players to the squad. Since the 2013/2014 season he runs on for the Chicago Bulls. He will act as a back-up for star player Derrick Rose.
