D. Lowell Jensen

Delwen Lowell Jensen ( born June 3, 1928 in Brigham City, Utah ) is a retired American lawyer, prosecutor and judge who was also a deputy U.S. attorney general.

Life

After schooling Jensen studied at the University of California at Berkeley and received there in 1949 with a Bachelor of Arts (BA). He then studied at the Law School, Boalt Hall, Law and graduated in 1952 with a Bachelor of Laws ( LL.B. ) from. Then he made from 1952 to 1954 his military service in the U.S. Army and was last promoted to corporal.

After he had in the meantime in 1953 received his legal approval in the state of California, he was after completing his military service initially worked as a lawyer before he was 1955-1969 Deputy District Attorney of Alameda County ( Deputy District Attorney or Assistant District Attorney ). After he was finally himself from 1969 to 1980 District Attorney of Alameda County. During this time he was also a 1970-1974 member of the Board of Directors of the California Crime Technological Research Foundation and 1979 to 1980 President of the California District Attorneys Association.

After completing his work as district attorney, he was United States Assistant Attorney General in 1980 and was, as such, to 1983 Head of the Department of Criminal Law ( Criminal Division ) in the U.S. Department of Justice. Subsequently, he was the first from 1983 to 1985 Associate Attorney General, before he was then to 1986 as Deputy Attorney General Deputy Minister of Justice.

In June 1986, Jensen was appointed as the successor to William Horsley Orrick judge at the Federal District Court for the Northern District of California and practiced this judges serve until he joined the senior status in June 1997.
