D. Todd Christofferson

David Todd Christofferson ( born January 24, 1945 in Pleasant Grove, Utah) is an apostle of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter -day Saints since 2008 and member of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles.

Life

Christofferson grew up in Utah. At the age of 15 he moved to New Jersey and attended a local high school. He then studied at Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah, where he received a bachelor's degree. Christofferson continued his studies at Duke University, where he received his Juris Doctor. From 1972 to 1974 he worked for Judge John Sirica as a law clerk. From 1975 to 1980 he practiced as a lawyer in Washington, DC. Continuing his career Christofferson served as senior vice president and general counsel of the Commerce Union Bank of Tennessee in Nashville, as well as associate general counsel of NationsBank Corporation in Charlotte, North Carolina.

In April 1993 he was called to the First Quorum of the Seventy. Since 1998 he was also next to the Presidency of the Seventy. On April 5, 2008 Andersen became the apostle of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter -day Saints, as well as a member of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, was appointed. He filled so that the gap that was left by Dieter F. Uchtdorf in the College. Uchtdorf was appointed in February 2008 as the second counselor in the First Presidency, the highest governing body of the church.

Christofferson is married and has five children. In his youth he was active as a missionary in Argentina.
