D2 motorway (Czech Republic)

The Dálnice 2 (D2) highway was built as a combination of the second largest Czech city of Brno with the Slovak capital Bratislava. Combined with the D1 motorway, the two largest cities in the former Czechoslovakia were linked: Prague and Bratislava. The individual sections in the direction of Slovakia were opened in 1978 and 1980. Today, the highway leading to the Slovakian border, where Lanzhot south of the border crossing Břeclav / Brodské over the March leads to the Slovak D 2.

On the route of the D2 motorway interchange is planned for the expressway R55 at Břeclav.
