Da Afghanistan Bank (DAB; Pashtun د افغانستان بانک ) is the central bank of Afghanistan.

Tasks

Note issue, liquidity and combat inflation

As a central bank, the DAB is responsible for the issuance of the currency notes of the Afghani. It will support in accordance with the Banking Act to secure the liquidity and simultaneously fight inflation.

History

On 27 June 2011 the U.S. State Department announced that Abdel Kadir Fitrat, the former head of Da Afghanistan Bank, had fled to the United States. He had previously resigned as central bank governor, claiming he was afraid because of the investigation in the case of Kabul Bank for his life.
