Dacryoadenitis

As lacrimal gland inflammation ( Dacryoadenitis ) is defined as the inflammation ( adenitis ) of the lacrimal gland which is accompanied by a painful swelling of the upper eyelid. The inflammation usually occurs unilaterally and is sometimes associated with abscess formation. This abscess is also known as Tränenfistel. Lacrimal gland inflammation can occur with mumps or if a so-called barley grain has formed.
