Dadasaheb Phalke Award

The Dadasaheb Phalke Award is a film award of the Indian government. It is awarded annually to an Indian filmmakers for his life's work and is the highest honor that can be granted a filmmakers in India. The award is named after the father of the Indian film Govind Phalke Dhundiraj and 1970, first awarded in the year of his 100th birthday. The announcement of the winners and the ceremony take place, along with the National Film Awards for the respective previous year.
