Dadu River (Sichuan)

The Dadu He or Dadu River (Chinese大渡河, Pinyin Dadu Hé ) is a tributary of the Min Jiang, the longest tributary of the Yangtze River. Its length is 1155 km, its catchment area of 92,000 square kilometers. He is also under the engl. Name Tatu River. It flows through the west of Sichuan. A famous station is there, the Luding Bridge. The mouth of the Dadu in the min marks of the Buddha of Leshan.

When caused as a result of the earthquake in the south of Kangding (1 June 1786), disaster struck on 10 June 1786 incurred by a landslide dam which had dammed the river. Around 50 million cubic tonnes of water pushed their way through the landscape and devastated over a length of 1,400 kilometers, the country. Approximately 100,000 people died.

The hydropower plant Dagangshan (大 岗 山), after its completion in 2014, have a total capacity of approximately 2,600 megawatts.
