Daedalus (journal)

Daedalus, the journal of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences was founded in 1955 and published quarterly since 1958.

Attracted international attention in early 1990 because of a Daedalus Only "Z " subscribed article entitled "To the Stalin Mausoleum ," in which the author predicted the days of Mikhail Sergeyevich Gorbachev as leader of the Soviet Union were numbered. The pseudonym assumed the press so different people like Zbigniew Brzezinski, Henry Kissinger, Jeane Kirkpatrick, Alexander Haig, Walter Laqueur, Condoleezza Rice and Robert Zoellick. In reality, it was the Russian historian Martin Edward Malia of the University of California at Berkeley. He had allowed himself to assure anonymity to protect his sources in the Soviet Union.
