DAF XF Euro 6

The DAF XF Euro 6 is a by Dutch manufacturer DAF produced since February 2013 long-haul trucks and the successor of the DAF XF105, but for the time being even further than Limited Edition is available.

Technology

At the IAA Commercial Vehicles 2012 in Hanover, DAF introduced the new XF tractor unit before the first time. The cab of the predecessor has been revised comprehensively. A redesigned grille with optimized air flow increases the cooling of the engine and reduces fuel consumption. The chassis was a modified axle suspension for even greater stability.

A central figure in the development of the new model, the introduction of diesel engines with exhaust emission standard Euro was 6 To achieve this, enormous technical effort, along with more weight. DAF reached the new emissions standard common- rail injection with a variable turbocharger, exhaust gas recirculation and exhaust aftertreatment by DeNOx catalytic converter and diesel particulate filter. As standard, the XF over a 90 -liter AdBlue tank, optional with 140 liters, which is fitted under the cab. The Euro 6 Paccar MX -13 12.9-liter 6- cylinder diesel engine with 300 kW/410 hp is available, 340 kW/460 hp or 375 kW/510 hp. The engines were tested comprehensively before the introduction of DAF and are designed to 1.6 million kilometers. Despite the additional units and higher weight for the Euro 6 standard they should need less fuel than the engines in the DAF XF105 with Euro -5 emissions standard. This probably also comes into play, that DAF reached only a multi- weight of 90 kg for the XF against the XF105. A new lighter rear axle for gross combination of up to 44 tons, and a suspension with a stabilizer link construction that integrates the function of the stabilizer, assisted in this case, to save weight - as well as a new fifth wheel mounting plate, and the optimum mounting of the battery boxes.

The power transmission to the rear wheels take 12 - or 16 -speed manual transmission, or 12 - or 16 - speed automatic transmission, which are supplied by ZF Friedrichshafen. Every 150,000 kilometers, a maintenance provided. The fuel tank capacity has a maximum of 1500 liters.

Comfort and safety features

In the middle of the dashboard is an information display that (DPA ) DAF called "Driver Performance Assistant ". The driver experiences over here include detailed information on fuel economy and information on braking. Tips for anticipatory driving style, how to insert a higher gear, are made by automatic notifications and to promote efficient driving.

Compared with the XF 105 XF Euro 6 has new seats, a new instrument panel along with new steering wheel and new switch and cup holder. The chairs were optimized for maximum sleeping comfort and enlarged. The engine is mounted so that - the height of the cab floor, despite the additional aggregates for the Euro 6 emissions standard rose by only 3 centimeters - along with the built- in chassis cooling. This makes the XF Super Space Cab offers a volume of 12.6 cubic meters and is therefore still the most spacious cab in the market segment of the long-haul trucks.

There is a standard Electronic Stability Program, which can optionally be extended with Forward Collision Warning, Adaptive cruise control and emergency brake assist to the usual safety systems of a tractor such as anti -lock brakes, retarder and engine brake. In the event of a collision, the cab suspension is energy absorbing. The lighting system is available with optional LED lights and also has daytime running lights and cornering lights.
