DAG (newspaper)

DAG was a Dutch daily newspaper. These were a free newspaper that has been distributed in major railway stations ( nationally), subway stations ( mainly Amsterdam and Rotterdam), colleges, universities, and all branches of the supermarket chain " Albert Heijn ".

The newspaper published Monday through Friday in tabloid format. Editorial office was Amsterdam. Editor of the newspaper was Dag Media, a joint venture of PCM Uitgevers, all major national quality newspapers in the Netherlands appear in the AD ( in joint venture with Wegener), NRC Handelsblad, de Volkskrant and Trouw, and the telecommunications company KPN. Chief editor was Bob Witman, who was previously deputy editor of de Volkskrant. The initial print run was 300,000 copies, the circulation rate in the first quarter of 2008, 380 269 copies.

History

Since the change of millennium fall in the Netherlands, the circulation figures of traditional newspapers, on the one hand caused by the competition of the free newspapers, one of which was launched in June 1999 offshoot of the Swedish free newspaper metro along with Sp! Ts was the forerunner, due to the new media such as the Internet.

PCM Uitgevers wanted to also go into the free newspaper market was looking for this, however the framework of a joint venture. As a partner of the investor Marcel Boekhoorn was originally intended, eventually, however, PCM Uitgevers opted for KPN. Boekhoorn now launched his own hand, free newspaper called De Pers and brought it out a few months before the appearance of DAG. On 8 May 2007, the first edition of DAG appeared. The newspaper employed last about 40 editors, four of which were responsible for the online edition. The latter had RSS feeds, and video integrated as solid components. The print edition has been fully consulted in the original layout on the home page of the newspaper, and in addition there was an issue for mobile devices. On 30 September 2008, the printed edition of DAG has been set. A year later, in 2009, the online editors of the paper was closed.
