Dagblad De Limburger

The Dagblad De Limburger is a Dutch regional newspaper with editorial headquarters in Sittard. The newspaper is published Monday to Saturday in tabloid format. Editor of the newspaper is the publisher Media Groep Limburg, which is also based in Sittard and in which also the Limburg Dagblad appears. The paid circulation was 2008 131.250 copies in the first quarter. Editor in Chief 's Huub Paulissen.

History

The Dagblad De Limburger was created in 1996 from a merger of Dagblad voor Noord- Limburg and De Limburger. The coined by merging precursor newspapers story is standing next to and graphically to the overview.

The Dagblad voor Noord- Limburg until the merger

The newspaper has two precursor ions that have been renamed over time and then merged together. The former was released on April 3, 1869 for the first time under the name Nieuw Venloosch Weekblad and was initially a weekly newspaper. On November 3, 1900, she was courant to Venloosche and appeared from then on twice a week. She appeared last on 25 March 1908 and then merged with the second precursor. This was released on February 28, 1863 for the first time as Venloosch Weekblad and was also initially a weekly newspaper. On 1 October 1898, she was Nieuwsblad to Venloosch and appeared from then on twice, from 15 September 1903 three times a week. The last issue was here on March 31, 1908.

On April 2, 1908 was courant from the Venloosche and the Venloosch Nieuwsblad the newspaper Nieuwe Venlosche courant, which initially appeared three times a week and became the daily newspaper on May 2, 1912. She appeared last on November 4, 1944. Since the newspaper was even more appeared during the German occupation in the Second World War, after 1942, it was acquired by the preliminary publication ban for such cases. Since April 18, 1945 Dagblad voor Noord- Limburg appeared as a successor to the last edition of 30 December 1995 and the subsequent merger with De Limburger for Dagblad De Limburger.

De Limburger until the merger

De Limburger has as Dagblad voor Noord- Limburg two precursor ions that have been renamed over time and then merged together. Her story is a little older than the Dagblad voor Noord- Limburg, as the oldest predecessor newspaper Nieuwsblad van de stad en het district Roermond already appeared on 5 January 1856. This was on 22 March of that year to the Meuse -en Roerbode and appeared under that name until 1904, from then on as De nieuwe koerier. The publication ban would have also used because De nieuwe koerier also after 1942 yet appeared, however, followed already on January 15, 1944, return to the old name Maas en Roerbode under which the newspaper was published until 1971 and then with De Nieuwe Limburger a merger entered.

Their oldest predecessor newspaper was first published in 1935 Veritas: Katholiek 14 - daagsch blad voor Maastricht. It was published on a fortnightly basis. During the German occupation in 1941 it came to a temporary stop publication, on 25 September 1944 it appeared but now as the successor of the Mededeelingen van Nederlandsche Orde service again. Post-war successors were then followed by the Gazet van Limburg (1945-1955) and De Nieuwe Limburger ( 1955-1971 ). The latter and the Meuse -en Roerbode merged in 1971 to De Limburger, then again in 1996 with the Dagblad voor Noord- Limburg Dagblad De Limburger to merged.

Since the merger

In 2000 the newspaper was taken over by the " De Telegraaf Holding ", which had in 1972 acquired local competitors Limburg Dagblad and the two newspapers in the new subsidiary " Media Groep Limburg " together led to 1 January 2001.

In April 2006, acquired the British media investment company " Mecom " the " Media Groep Limburg 'from the' De Telegraaf Holding ". On August 1st of the same year, the Dagblad De Limburger and Limburg Dagblad received with Huub Paulissen the first time a common chief editor.
