Daggett County, Utah

Daggett County is a county located in the state of Utah in the United States. 2010 Daggett County had 1,059 inhabitants. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Manila.

Geography

According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the Daggett County covers an area of 1873 square kilometers, of which 64 square kilometers of water. In the northern part of the Flaming Gorge Reservoir is located. The county is bordered clockwise to the County: Uinta County ( Wyoming), Moffat County (Colorado), Uintah County, Duchesne County and Summit County. About 90 % of the land in the County is in federal ownership.

History

Daggett County was founded in 1918. It got its name after Ellworth Daggett, the first surveyor.

For many years the County had only a few hundred inhabitants. The construction of Flaming Gorge Dam end of the 1950s, the population multiplied abruptly, but went after its completion in 1964 back quickly. It was only at the 2010 census, the Daggett County again had about 1000 inhabitants.

Demographic data

According to the census of 2000, there were 921 people in Daggett County. There were 340 households, and 240 families. The population density was 1 people per square kilometer. The racial the population was composed of 94.57 % White, 0.65 % African American, 0.76 % Native American, 0.11 % Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander residents from the and 2.39 % from other races groups; 1.52% were descended from two or more races. 5.10% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.

Of the 340 households out of which 27.10% have children under the age of 18 living with them. 62.90 % were married couples living together, 4.40% had a female householder with no husband. 29.40 % were non-families. 25.90% of all households and 7.40% had someone living alone at the age of 65 years or older. The average household size was 2.48 and the average family size was 3.02.

Based on the county the population was spread out with 23.20 % under the age of 18, 8.90 % from 18 to 24, 27.40% from 25 to 44 years, 27.00% between 45 and 64 years and 13.50% were 65 years old or older. The average age was 39 years. For every 100 females there were 125.20 males to 100 females age 18 and over, there were 132.60 males.

The median income for a household was $ 30,833, and the median income for a family was $ 41,484. Males have a median income of $ 35,938, women $ 21,583. The per capita income was $ 15,511. 5.50% of the population and 4.40% of families are below the poverty line. 5.60 % of those under age 18 and 1.60 % were 65 years or older.
