Dagoberto Godoy

Dagoberto Godoy Fuente Alba ( born July 22, 1893 in Temuco, † September 8, 1960 in Santiago de Chile) was a Chilean pilot who flew over first the Andes.

As a lieutenant in the Chilean army Dagoberto Godoy launched on 12 December 1918 by El Bosque 40 km north of Santiago de Chile for the first Andean overflight. With his plane a Bristol M1 -C he flew at an altitude of 6300 m and landed successfully in Lagunitas to Mendoza in Argentina. The flight lasted 95 minutes.

Dagoberto Godoy voted already in July 1916 at the first military air race in South America in Buenos Aires in part. The Chileans were involved with three Blériot monoplanes.

In 1919 he was appointed captain of the Chilean Air Force. In 1942 he left the army.
