Dai Jin

Dai Jin (Chinese戴 进, Pinyin Dai Jin, W.-G. Tai Chin, * 1388 in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province, ibid † 1462 ) was a Chinese painter of the Ming Dynasty.

Life

Dài addressed already as a boy with the painting, but first took the profession of a carpenter. Later he was at the court of Emperor Xuanzong worked, where he as a professional painter but contrary to beat the contempt of officials scholars. Because of intrigues Dài had already retire after a few years in his home near Hangzhou. There he hoped to earn his living as a painter, but died penniless in 1462.

Work

Dai Jin applies (named after his home province of Zhejiang) as the founder of the Zhe school, which continued the tradition of the Academy painting the Southern Song Dynasty. His role models included in particular Ma Yuan and Xia Kuai. His landscapes are characterized by lyrical- atmospheric, playback torque -like moods committed style. Also characteristic is the contrast and emphasizes graphical use of texture drawings, about to rock, tree or deciduous games.

To Dài Jin's most important works include Late return from a spring outing, roosting on a creek hermit, homecoming end boat in the rain storm or the search for paradise. A favorite motif were also fishing boats on rivers.
