DAI Personal Computer

The DAI was a personal computer, then known as the home computer, the Belgian company Data Applications International from 1980. The DAI was introduced to the market a very powerful computer, but was offered too expensive on the market ( in December 1982 for 2,880 DM), so that he could not prevail in the distribution.

Specifications

The hardware of the computer based on the DAI 8080 A microprocessor and was designed as a single-board computer. The futuristic white case contained a high-quality keyboard for that time. For mass storage, a tape recorder was used. The DAI could be connected to conventional televisions and already had a color graphic. The dynamic RAM ( max. 48 KiB) was divided into three separate storage areas (memory banks ) containing 0, 4 KiB or 16 KiB RAM. Further, the DAI had five programmable interval timer, two external interrupts and two serial I / O interrupts. As interfaces were RS- 232 and one parallel port (DCE - bus of Data Applications) available. The BASIC of the computer worked " halbcompilierend ". This means that the BASIC program was checked right at the input to syntactic errors and translated into an intermediate code that the interpreter could then data faster.

In addition, 9511 math chip could be retrofitted if required an AMD.
