Daisetta is a city in Liberty County in the U.S. state of Texas in the United States.

Geography

The city is located in the east of the county, in southeast Texas, about 65 km from the Gulf to the east is about 70 km from Louisiana, in the southeast of Mexico and has a total area of 3.8 km ² without significant water surface.

History

The shopkeeper Newt Farris founded the city in 1917 and named it after Daisy Barrett and Etta White.

Demographic data

According to the census of 2000, there were 1,034 people in 369 households and 290 families. The population density was 269.7 inhabitants per km ². The racial the population was composed of 95.55 % White, 2.32 % African American, 0.00 % Native American, 0.00 % Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander residents from the and 1.16 % from other ethnic groups. Approximately 0.97 % were Mixed Race and 2.13 % of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.
