Daisy Fellowes

Marguerite Séverine Philippine Decazes de Glücksbierg (* April 29, 1890, † December 13, 1962 ), better known as Daisy Fellowes was a society celebrity of the 20th century novelist and poet, fashion icon, first chief editor of the fashion magazine Harper 's Bazaar and one of the heiresses of the singer 's assets.

She had two brothers, her parents were Isabelle -Blanche Singer (1869-1896) and Jean Élie Octave Louis Sévère Amanieu Decazes (1864-1912), the third Duc Decazes et Glücksberg. Her maternal grandfather was Isaac Merritt Singer, who founded his fortune with sewing machines. The half-orphans were brought up after the suicide of the mother by her sister Winnaretta Singer, Princesse Edmond de Polignac, a famous patron of the arts.

Fellowes first husband, whom she married on May 10, 1910 was Prince Jean Amédée Marie Anatole de Broglie. Her husband died in 1918, then the world's rampant Spanish flu, while he served in the French army in Algeria. The society gossip, but claimed he had died by suicide, as his bisexuality became public.

The marriage produced three daughters were born: Emmeline Isabelle Edmée Séverine de Broglie (1911-1986, married Countess de Castéja ), Isabelle de Broglie (1912-1960, novelist, sometimes married to the Marquis de La Moussaye ), and Jacqueline de Broglie ( 1918-1965, some married to Alfred Kraus ). From their own daughters claimed the notoriously sarcastic Daisy Fellowes: " The oldest is like her father, only a little more masculine. The second is like me, only without courage. The third is of a ghastly little guy named Lischmann. " One of her affairs she had with the English diplomat Duff Cooper.

Fellowes second husband, whom she married on August 9, 1919 was the banker Reginald Ailwyn Fellowes ( 1884-1953 ), a cousin of Winston Churchill and grandson of the seventh Duke of Marlborough. Their daughter was Rosamond Fellowes ( 1921-1998 ).

Fellowes wrote several novels and short stories; her best-known work is Les dimanches de la Comtesse de Narbonne ( 1931).

Daisy Fellowes was one of the bravest fashionable women of the 20th century; it was an important patron of the Surrealist fashion designer Elsa Schiaparelli. She was also a loyal customer and friend of the jeweler Suzanne Belperron.
