Dakshineswar Kali Temple

The Dakshineshwar Temple ( Bengali: দক্ষিণেশ্বর, Dakṣiṇeśbar ) is a Hindu temple complex north of Kolkata on the Hooghly Gangesarm, beside the Hooghly Bridge Vivekananda Setu. It is located in the district of North 24 Parganas, Subdivision Barakpur.

The temple complex was built in 1847-1855, funded by Rani Rasmani. It consists of a main temple of the goddess Kali, another Radha- Krishna Shrine, and 12 small Shiva temples, which are situated on the river-facing side. On the temple grounds also by the faithful also religiously revered living room Ramakrishna's room ( a room with a bed and many photographs on the wall), the more than 30 years until his death in 1886 worked as a priest here. The entire temple complex is easily accessible for non - Hindus.
