Dal Segno

The in the notation of music instruction Dal Segno occurring [ dal se: ɲo ] ( usually abbreviated as DS ) comes from Italian and means " from the sign". What is meant is that the piece of music from the so- called point on to the listed endpoint (usually marked by a double prime ) is to be repeated. Similar to Da capo, there are also the names Dal Segno al Fine or Dal Segno al Coda. The representation of the character for " Dal Segno " may vary.
