Dala Airport ( IATA: BLE, ICAO: ESSD ) is the common airfield in the Swedish municipalities Borlänge and Falun. The airport is located on the outskirts of Borlänge, in the district of rummy.

History

The airport was built during the Second World War and modernized in 1961. The mid-1960s ended the first airlines in Dala. In 1972, the new terminal was completed and the Dalaflyget AB took over the airport. By 2007, the airport was owned by the Swedish Air Force. The highest passenger number was 210,000 in 1989. In 2006, there were approximately 33,000 passengers, a decrease over the previous year. This is due to a faster train to Stockholm.

Start and runways

The airport has two start and runways: the 14/32 ( asphalt), which is 2310 meters long and 45 meters wide and 12/30 ( grass) which is 720 meters long and 50 meters wide. The runway 32 is equipped with ILS. For the radio navigation VOR / DME and NDB are available.
