Dalandsadgad (Mongolian Даланзадгад ) is a city in southern Mongolia. It is equipped with about 17,000 inhabitants, is the capital of the province Ömnö Gobi aimag.
Geography
The city is located some 540 kilometers south of the Mongolian capital of Ulan Bator at a height of 1590 meters. In addition, the city is close to the border with the People's Republic of China.
Traffic
Northwest of the town is the Gurvan Saikhan airport with a dirt and a paved runway since 2007. The latter is the second longest in Mongolia after the Chingghis Khan Airport in Ulaanbaatar. From there, domestic flights are carried out in the capital Ulan Bator.
Tourism
The city is a frequent destination for tourists who are visiting here from the scenic attractions of the region. The most popular destination is the lying 30 km away Gurvansaikhan Gobi National Park with the vulture gorges and numerous tourist Ger camps.
Culture
Dalandsadgad has a theater, a museum dedicated to the South Gobi Desert and, since 2009 also has a children's center.
