Kitefin ( Dalatias licha )

The Dalatiidae are a family of small sharks, Pacific and Indian Ocean in the open water as well as on continental slopes and shelf areas of continents and islands live in the Atlantic.

Features

The Dalatiidae are small sharks that are only 22 to 42 inches long. The only exception is the Kitefin ( Dalatias licha ), which can reach a length of 1.80 meters. Allen Dalatiidae lacks the anal fin. The species of the genus Squaliolus have only before the first dorsal fin a sting, with all other Dalatiidae the dorsal fins are spineless. To light organs may be located on the underside of the front body.

Reproduction

All Dalatiidae are ovoviviparous, that is, the embryos hatch in the womb from their egg capsules and develop in the uterus region to birth size and then born alive. It also speaks of " aplazentaler Viviparie ".
