Dale Hawerchuk

Dale Martin Hawerchuck ( born April 4, 1963 in Toronto, Ontario ) is a retired Canadian professional ice hockey player and coach, who during his playing career from 1981 /82 to 1996/97 for the Winnipeg Jets, the Buffalo Sabres, St. Louis Blues and the Philadelphia Flyers played in the National Hockey League ( NHL). He is currently the head coach of the Barrie Colts of the Ontario Hockey League.

Career

In the draft of the Ligue de hockey junior majeur du Québec, he was elected in 1979 as a sixth player of the Cornwall Royals. With 103 points, he was named Rookie of the Year.

In the NHL Entry Draft 1981 he was selected by the Winnipeg Jets as the No. 1 and he fulfilled all connected up to expectations. Once again, he managed 103 points, making him the youngest player in the NHL, who reached the 100-point mark. He was invited to the NHL All- Star game and won at the end of the season the Calder Memorial Trophy. He confirmed his class with 91 points in his second season and then managed five times in a row, more than 100 points. When Rendez -vous '87 he belonged to the squad of NHL teams. In 1990 he was given during a draft to the Buffalo Sabres. After five years he moved to Buffalo a brief stint in St. Louis, before joining the Philadelphia Flyers. Hawerchuk qualified with his teams while almost every year for the playoffs, but at the latest in the second round was the last stop. Meanwhile, 34 years old, he managed with the Flyers in the 1996/97 season the way into the Stanley Cup finals, which, however, was lost. Then he ended his active career.

He was honored with induction into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2001.

In April 2010, Hawerchuk was appointed head coach of the Barrie Colts of the Ontario Hockey League, for whom he is from the 2010/11 season behind the gang.
