Dalen, Telemark

Dalen is a town in the Norwegian county of Telemark. Dalen is the administrative center of the municipality Tokke. The village has about 780 inhabitants and is situated at the western end of Lake Bandak. The deepest point is 72 moh. ( Bandak ), the highest at 1,537 moh ( Kvannfjellet ).

Industry

In the mountains at the Dalen Tokke is Kraftverk. The hydropower plant regulates the uppermost western branch of the Skiensvassdraget. It was built in four stages and completed in 1979. The slope of the Hardangervidda to Bandak is 1,000 m.

At the beginning of the 19th century were discovered and recovered molybdenum deposits in Telemark including in Dalen and Bandaksli.

Tourism

  • Dalen forms the western end of the Telemark Canal.
  • One of the most prestigious hotels of Norway is the Dalen Hotell, which was built in 1894 in the Dragon style.
