Dalnerechensk

Dalnerechensk (Russian Дальнереченск ) is a city in Primorsky region in Russia with 27 604 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010 ).

Geography

The city is located in the Ussuriniederung about 400 km north of the regional capital Vladivostok on the left bank of the Bolshaya Ussurka ( Great Ussurka ) near its mouth into the Ussuri River, which marks the border with the People's Republic of China here. The border is just over five miles from the city center. In the urban area the Malinowka opens from the left in the Bolshaya Ussurka.

The city is Dalnerechensk the region administratively subordinated directly and also the administrative center of the homonymous Rajons. Direct to the city also includes the south west village Laso and three smaller villages with a total of 3894 inhabitants, so that the total population of the administrative unit of the city Dalnerechensk (2009) 31,790.

History

The present town was built about 1894 in connection with the establishment of the Ussurieisenbahn Khabarovsk to Vladivostok, the eastern section of today the Trans-Siberian Railway. Station and city were named after the river Iman (Russian Иман derived from Chinese伊曼/ Yiman ).

1917 was the place the municipal law.

In 1969 came the northwest of the city to a border dispute between the Soviet Union and the People 's Republic of China, the incident at the Ussuri. As a result, river and town Iman as part of a campaign against geographical names of Chinese origin were renamed in 1972: the river in Bolshaya Ussurka, the city in Dalnerechensk ( means about town on the river in the Far East).

Culture and sights

In the town of individual buildings from the early 20th century have been preserved, the former trading house art and Albers 1908, a church of 1913, and the fortifications of the former garrison from the period of Russian colonization of the Ussurigebietes around 1860.

Dalnerechensk has a local history museum. There is also a memorial complex for the killed in the Ussuri incident in 1969 Soviet military personnel.

Economy and infrastructure

The most important industry in the city Dalnerechensk is the timber industry. In addition, there are companies in the food industry and the building materials industry.

Dalnerechensk is located on the Trans-Siberian Railway ( Route 8874 km from Moscow). At just under 30 kilometers in length exists on the portion around Dalnerechensk a later erected until about eight kilometers from the original route parallel route which bypasses the city to the east. Here are two more stations, Dalnerechensk II and Woguton in Domostroitelny district.
