Damascenine is an alkaloid, which is included, of course, among other things in the seeds of some species of the plant genus black cumin ( Nigella ).

Damascenine one hand, acts as a free radical scavenger, on the other hand, however, mutagenic, carcinogenic effects one is suspected.
