Damian Lewis

Damian Watcyn Lewis ( born February 11, 1971 in St. John 's Wood, London ) is an English actor.

Life

Lewis attended Eton College and received his degree in 1993 at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. With the Royal Shakespeare Company, he joined then in various theater productions.

In 2001 he took over the role of the U.S. majors Richard Winters in the miniseries Band of Brothers and played shortly after the lawyer Soames Forsyte in the series The Forsyte Saga. Since 2003 he also acts in film production, so among other things in the Stephen King adaptation Dreamcatcher. In 2007 he played in the movie Dead or cake, the main role of a contract killer who wants to start again from scratch in a Welsh village. Written and directed by his brother Gareth Lewis was responsible. From 2007 to 2009 Lewis took over the lead role in the U.S. television series Life.

On September 24, 2012 Lewis won the Emmy for best male lead actor in the U.S. series Homeland. Later also the Golden Globe.

Lewis is married to actress Helen McCrory since 4 July 2007. The couple has two children together.
