Damien Abad

Damien Abad ( born April 5, 1980 in Nîmes ) is a French politician ( Nouveau Centre) and since the European election 2009 Member of the European Parliament.

Life

Damien Abad studied finance at the Institut d' études politiques sciences de Bordeaux and worked as a research fellow for tax and financial issues for the liberal UDF Group in the French National Assembly. The Nouveau Centre ( NC) After the dissolution of the UDF in 2007 he joined them, a small party that was formed from the right wing UDF and supported the candidacy of Nicolas Sarkozy in the 2007 presidential election. In the French parliamentary elections in 2007, Abad scored 3.17% in his constituency in Yvelines, 2008, he was elected to the city council of Vauvert (Gard ). In May of the same year he became chairman of the NC youth organization Jeunes Centristes.

In the European elections in France in 2009 Abad joined in the constituency south-eastern France on the second place of the common list of UMP, NC and LGM and reached a seat in the European Parliament, where he became the youngest French MEP. He joined the Group of the European People's Party ( Christian Democrats) and is a member of the Budget Committee. In 2010 he was elected to the Regional Council of Rhône -Alpes.
