Damma Glacier

The Dammagletscher is a slope glacier on the eastern slopes of the Winter Mountains in the Urner Alps, in the canton of Uri in Switzerland. It is 2.5 km long and covers an area of ​​about 5 sq. km.

His starting point takes the Dammagletscher to about 3,300 m below the steep cliff on the eastern flank of the Dammastocks. The glacier extends as a broad snowfield to the east and on the slope has a gradient of 40 % to partially. In the south it is flanked by the Gletschhorn ( 3'305 m above sea level. M. ) and the winter Stock ( 3'203 m above sea level. M. ). A narrow tongue extends further down the valley and ends at an altitude of 2,060 m. From here the Dammareuss flows into the jammed Göscheneralpsee whose outflow, the Göschener Reuss, empties in Göschenen into the river. In the north of Dammagletscher is connected to the Rotfirn, a further 1 km ² large snowfield on the eastern slope of the Winterberg.
