Dammartin-en-Goële

Dammartin -en- Goële is a commune with 8258 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Seine- et- Marne in the Île- de -France region; it belongs to Arrondissement Meaux and Canton Dammartin -en- Goële.

History

The name comes from Dammartin Domnus Martinus, Martin of Tours, who Christianized the region in the 4th century. The village gave its name to the county Dammartin and the house Dammartin.
