Dam is a municipality in the Lower Franconian district of Aschaffenburg and a member of the administrative community Mespelbrunn based in Heimbuchenthal.

Geography

Geographical Location

The municipality is located in the center of the Spessart, in the so-called Hochspessart. The municipality of Bach dam is known for its many hamlets, such as the Schnorrhof the dog back, Heppe or Oberwinterbach ( Geishöhe ). The dam creek rises near Rohrbrunn and has many smaller tributary rivers. The difference in altitude between 200 meters in the district Neuhammer and the highest elevation of 521 meters on the Geishöhe.

History

In 1991, the community celebrated the feast " 750 years in the villages Dammbachtal " to which the community has the home directory " Dammbach 1241-1991 " published.

Incorporations

The municipality was established on June 1, 1976 as part of the municipal reorganization in Bavaria from the previously independent municipalities winter creek and Krausenbach. Since both districts are in Dammbachtal, it stood to reason that you chose as a common place name dam creek. On 1 January 2008 the municipality enlarged by the inclusion of Krause Bacher forest.

Coat of Arms history The municipality of Bach dam is a very young community. It was formed in 1976 from the formerly independent communities Krausenbach and winter creek through voluntary association. It is geographically located on the dam creek, from which is derived the place name. On the stream has the coat of arms towards the wave beam. The oak leaves and the acorn in chief are symbols for the location of the municipality in Hochspessart. The sevenfold division of gold and red is the coat of arms of the Counts of Rieneck removed. Krausenbach has long been in their possession. The Silver Bevel bar with the three blue rings is the emblem of the True family of Mespelbrunn. They had the rule in winter creek, built around 1415 a church there, and in 1584 a hospital. The coat of arms was granted on 22 July 1988.
