Damo Suzuki

Damo Suzuki ( born January 16, 1950) is a permanently living in Germany, singer of Japanese descent. He was lead singer of the rock group Can from 1969 to 1973 and since 1983 busy with his solo career, mainly with their own projects, currently the Damo Suzuki 's Network. His trademark is improvised song to psychedelic music.

Life

Damo Suzuki is born in Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan and grew up. He was in Munich discovered by Can members Holger Czukay and Jaki Liebezeit as a street musician and committed immediately. He graduated from the same evening his first appearance with the band. He remained four years a member of Can and took, among others, the album Tago Mago, which is considered the best of the bunch on. In 1974, he disappeared from the scene and rumors spread that he had joined the Jehovah's Witnesses.

In 1983 he reappeared in public and played in various bands such as underreporting or phantom band around Jaki Liebezeit, before he founded the Damo Suzuki band. As of 1990, the band Damo Suzuki & Friends and finally Damo Suzuki 's Network called then. In 1997 he founded his own label Damo 's Network, under which he published a series of albums that contain only live material. In 2004 he went as a singer for the band from Hamburg Passierzettel on a small tour of Germany.

Since 1997, he always goes back on tour with various bands and performers and earned his living as a musician. His music is based on improvisation as earlier. He travels to different countries and plays with local musicians - the so-called "Sound Carriers ".
